Achievements

Kalaroa Municipality, the second municipality of Satkhira district was formed on 11 March 1990. Although the municipality was formed in 1990, the desired development of this municipality has not taken place. Didn't choose the city father. Therefore, the administrator nominated by the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the municipal father. At this time the people were deprived of their various services as they did not have the right idea about the municipality. The first municipal elections were held in February 2011. Subsequently, on December 30, 2015, the second term election was held in the municipality. At present all the wards in the municipality have street lighting facilities and there are about 1200 street lights. Water will be supplied to the municipal areas through pipelines very fast. Within the municipality, safe drinking water is being provided to the community and educational institutions through about 200 AIRPs under the supervision of Dhaka Ahsania Mission with the financial assistance of Water Aid. For the convenience of the public, 05 public toilets have been constructed in important places of the city. To keep the city garbage free, garbage is being collected from the houses and dumped in a safe place under the supervision of the municipality and entrepreneurs. Besides, required number of roads and drains have been constructed. Practical Action funded by Simavi and Uttaran are working to ensure public wash rights in municipal areas. HP Asha is working to create a private entrepreneur in the wash sector. Progressive organizations are working tirelessly to ensure good governance.
